Monday morning Cassius Marsh went ahead and did what he has wanted to do for a few days. He called LSU Coach Les Miles and committed to the Tigers.
“I called him and told him I’m going to be a Tiger. He told me he is going to take care of me and cracked a few jokes about the Auburn game.” Marsh said. He’s a great guy, very fun to talk to. He put me on the phone with Coach Haley and they welcomed me to the family.”

The word family is brought up a lot in recruiting, but to Marsh family has a deeper meaning when talking about his decision to attend college in Baton Rouge. His mother is originally from Louisiana, and she has a large number of her family members who live in Baton Rouge.
“Everything on my official visit went perfect. I just felt at home at LSU. It’s a really good fit.” Marsh added, “The only thing against LSU was the distance, but my family feels a lot better with me having family in Baton Rouge.”
Needless to say, his mother is excited he has made his college decision.
“My mom is very happy that she will be able to stay with her family when she comes out and visits.”
Even though LSU was not his favorite throughout the process, the more Marsh learned about the program the more he became interested in playing for LSU. He knows exactly when he put it all together that he would be a Tiger.
“I started to realize I wanted to be a part of this program when we were at the Florida game and they started stomping on the eye. That pretty much was the point where I felt that I was attached to LSU, and I didn’t feel that way about any other place.” Marsh said. “It just made me know this is where I want to be. That made me know that my decision was made.”
He visited Arizona State the following weekend, and says he enjoyed it. But this weekend he did not take any visits, instead choosing to watch the LSU game on the TV. Again, he felt the pull to LSU.
“I watched the Auburn game and I’d refer to LSU as us and we. I could feel it. I’m not there yet, but that’s where my future is.”
Knowing what he is becoming a part of, Marsh is excited about the group of future Tigers he has joined.
“I feel like this class has great talent. This is the kind of class that can keep the program competing for national championships.”
Now 6-4, 270 after losing over 20 pounds in the off season, Marsh is happy with his decision and what he has in front of him.
“I couldn’t feel any better. Recruiting can be stressful, and you are always worried about disappointing people.” Marsh said. “Now I get to concentrate on my senior season and school. And I can relax and watch my Tigers, and hopefully have some fun with them as the season goes on.”
He would like to do one more thing before this season is over.
“I’d like to get back for a game, but I don’t have any plans yet. I can’t wait to get back. Hopefully I can get back to see another game. If not after the season I can get my whole family out there before I start school.”
